We are very happy to conduct funerals in St Nicolas Church for anyone who makes such a request. This is the case even where there has not been a regular church going connection. Anyone who has lived in Witham or is living in the town at the time of their death is entitled to have their funeral at St Nicolas Church. We are also happy to conduct services at the crematorium or at the cemetery. It is no longer possible for burials to take place in the church yard of St Nicolas Church but we are still able to inter ashes.
Whether a funeral is held in church or at the cemetery or crematorium, we work hard to ensure that the service is a celebration of the person's life contained within the Christian message of hope of eternal life. We have a competent organist (and choir) and we are usually able to accommodate specific requests for music. We are also happy to include personal tributes, whether poems, prose or personal reflections.
